After a Thursday night shooting on First Avenue North, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin this morning stated his opposition to the opening of PRVLGE, a new bar in a trouble spot where the Birmingham City Council last month approved a new liquor license.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers received reports that multiple shots had been fired in the 2300 block of 1st Avenue North, according to the Birmingham Police Department.

A man was shot while in his vehicle Thursday night in the middle of downtown Birmingham in a scene visited by the city’s mayor, police chief and the Jefferson County District Attorney. Around 6:30 p.m.

A person suffered serious injuries following a shooting in Birmingham Monday afternoon. The Birmingham Police Department said officers found the victim in the 1700 block of Pearson Avenue SW just before 2 p.m. The police department said medics took the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to the 2300 block of 1st Avenue North around 6:30 p.m. to investigate reports of multiple shots fired.
