Colorado officials have ordered evacuations due to the Cottonwood Flat Fire burning in Garfield County.

On Friday at 5 p.m., evacuation orders that were put in place on County Road 309 located on Battlement Mesa will fall back into pre-evacuation status according to the Grand Valley Fire Protection District and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

The growth of one wildfire burning on Colorado’s Western Slope has slowed to a crawl, but four others continue to scorch thousands of acres, fire officials said.
