Gil is the seventh named storm to form in the Eastern Pacific in 2025. If a storm forms in the Pacific close to land, it can bring damaging winds and rain before pushing out to sea.

Tropical Storm Gil is anticipated to strengthen into a hurricane in the eastern Pacific, posing no immediate threat to land. Located 995 miles west-southwest of Baja California, it has winds of 70 mph and moves west-northwest at 17 mph.
