Rite Aid began its first round of layoffs after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week while also putting all its brick-and-mortar operations up for sale. Hundreds of workers lost their jobs Monday, and hundreds more will lose their jobs in June.

As drugstore chain Rite Aid recently announced plans to file for bankruptcy, for a second time, the company also announced that it will not be accepting returns, exchanges, or gift cards, beginning in June.

Philadelphia-based drugstore chain Rite Aid plans to close all of its U.S. locations — including 33 stores in Philly — and shutter its headquarters at the Navy Yard as part of its second bankruptcy filing in less than two years, the company said Monday.
