Like its predecessors, Fear Street: Prom Queen, a loose adaptation of R.L. Stine 's 1992 novel The Prom Queen, honors the broader franchise by pairing teen melodrama with shockingly gnarly kills and a motley crew of suspects.

Fans of the "Fear Street" franchise know to expect a few things from a new installment: blood, witchcraft and high school terror. "Fear Street: Prom Queen," which premiered on Netflix May 23, delivers all of the above — this time taking viewers to the cursed town of Shadyside in the '80s, in classic slasher style.

The latest Fear Street movie also directly references the series’ events. For instance, there is a shrine in Shadyside High honoring the victims of the Camp Nightwing massacre, a story told in Fear Street: 1978.
