The Justice Department is lifting a school desegregation order in Louisiana dating to the Civil Rights Movement, calling its continued existence a “historical wrong” and suggesting that others across the South should be eliminated.

Seven Democratic senators are asking the U.S. Justice Department for information about changes to its civil rights division made by President Donald Trump's administration including reassigning several career officials who had held leadership positions.
