Despite parting ways with multiple veterans this offseason, the Utah Jazz reportedly aren't planning to move on from star forward Lauri Markkanen.

Riley Minix told a teammate he would be open before making a game-winning shot for the Spurs in a Summer League win over the Jazz on Monday.

According to ESPN, it “is not Utah's intention” to trade Markkanen, in spite of their forward-looking moves this offseason. “It would be too much to describe Markkanen as untouchable, but the Jazz still project the All-Star forward as a key player in their future core,” ESPN's insiders wrote.

According to NBA insider Tim MacMahon of ESPN, the Utah Jazz don’t want to trade Lauri Markkanen. The Jazz, who have parted ways with John Collins, Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson this offseason, view Markkanen as a core piece.

The Utah Jazz will lock horns against San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Summer League on Monday, July 14th at the Thomas & Mark Center.

It might be worth filing away that Utah, league sources say, previously showed interest in Carter when the Jazz engaged the Kings on Lauri Markkanen trade concepts during the 2024 offseason. -via marcstein.
