Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a new bill to the Verkhovna Rada aimed at restoring the independence of the country’s anti-corruption agencies.
EADaily, July 24th, 2025. NABU approved the proposal submitted today to the Verkhovna Rada by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to strengthen the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP).
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a discussion with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the preparation of a bill aimed at strengthening Ukraine's rule of law and ensuring the independence and effectiveness of the country's anti-corruption infrastructure.
Zelensky has submitted draft legislation to restore the independence of Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies, reversing course after an outburst of public criticism.
The new law grants sweeping powers to Ukraine’s prosecutor-general, a presidential appointee who reports directly to the president’s office, to reassign, interfere with or even kill off corruption investigations.
Mr Zelensky said it was needed to speed up investigations, ensure more convictions and remove ‘Russian influence’ from the fight against corruption.
