Russian and Ukrainian negotiators will meet in Istanbul on Wednesday evening for their first peace talks in more than seven weeks, with Moscow under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump to strike a deal or face tough new sanctions.

Kyiv and Moscow will hold a new round of peace talks — the first in seven weeks — on Wednesday in Turkey, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Negotiators for the warring sides in Istanbul appeared to make little progress on ceasefire terms or a possible summit between their presidents – with their meeting ending after less than an hour.

Delegates from Russia and Ukraine have held peace talks in Turkey, according to Russia's state-owned press agency, TASS. Meanwhile, at home, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is facing the first major protest against his government since the war began.
