Canned tuna recalled over botulism risk
The company said that the easy-pull can lid “encountered a manufacturing defect that may compromise the integrity of the product seal (especially over time), causing it to leak or worse, be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning.”
FDA announces canned tuna recall
Tri-Union Seafoods has voluntarily recalled some of its canned tuna products. According to the FDA, the pull-tabs on the cans have a defect, posing a potential botulism threat. So far no related illnesses have been reported. Consumers should return the product to the store where they bought it for a full refund.
