The Wildcats swept through the Eugene Regional to earn their trip to Chapel Hill. Arizona dominated Cal Poly, winning 14-0 in the regional-clinching game, with center field Aaron Walton hitting three home runs and driving in six runs.

• Lexi Evans (Scripps Ranch) of Cal Poly won back-to-back women’s pole vault championships, clearing a Big West Conference-record 15 feet, 5 1/4 inches at the NCAA West Prelims. She qualified for the NCAA Championships and finished 14th overall.

After winning on Friday, ASU baseball lost its rematch with UC Irvine in the NCAA tournament Sunday. UC Irvine defeated the Sun Devils 11-6 to eliminate ASU.

Arizona has built its team to succeed in its own ballpark, the cavernous Hi Corbett Field. In exchange for not hitting many home runs—just 27 in 30 games this season—the Wildcats lead the nation in triples and get plenty of doubles.
