Vanderbilt baseball recruit Sean Gamble signed with the Kansas City Royals. Gamble was taken 23rd overall in this year's MLB draft.

July 22 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Royals plan to promote Rich Hill from Triple-A, which will make the 45-year-old pitcher the oldest active player in MLB. Royals manager Matt Quatraro confirmed the move Monday night. Hill will start against the Chicago Cubs -- the team that drafted him in 2002 -- on Tuesday in Chicago.

Vanderbilt baseball's second-highest ranked commit, Sean Gamble, is unlikely to make it to campus after being drafted 23rd overall by the Kansas City Royals in the 2025 MLB draft on July 13.
