The Met Office has expanded a huge yellow warning for wind covering much of the UK from 6am on Sunday until 6pm on Sunday. The update comes among various other warnings for rain and wind on Friday and Sunday.

Cold weather may be receding soon, but plenty of areas will just be swapping it for a wet anfd windy battering by the end of the week. The Met Office issued warnings for wind and rain for large areas of the west coast of Britain on Friday.

The Met Office said: "A spell of strong and gusty southerly winds is expected and will likely coincide with rush hour on Friday. Gusts of 45-55 mph are likely across the warning area, with exposed coasts and hills of counties Down and Antrim perhaps seeing gusts of 65 mph. Winds will quickly ease from the west during the early afternoon."

Gloucestershire is set to be battered by strong gusts of winds and heavy rain today (Friday, February 21) - and worse is yet to come. While no weather warning for the county is yet in force, the Met Office has issued a severe weather alert for wind on Sunday in parts of the county

Forecasters said southerly to south-westerly winds are expected to increase through Sunday morning, peaking late morning to early afternoon with gusts of 50mph to 60mph. The Met Office added winds could reach 70mph in exposed spots along the Irish Sea coastlines, Scottish Islands, and other areas of high ground further inland.

The weekend weather is shaping up to be dramatic with three separate yellow weather warnings now in place over the coming days.

Yellow severe weather warnings for wind and rain have been issued by the Met Office for Friday and Sunday. On Thursday morning temperatures were around 10C higher than Wednesday morning and most of us would have noticed the milder feel.
