Oklahoma is not done with the severe weather chances after at least two tornadoes touched down early Friday morning.
A tornado touched down near Highways 9 and 35 in Norman, Oklahoma, on Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) had issued a warning and asked people to take shelter. A photo showed the funnel cloud on the ground.
According to Crawford County Emergency Management, at least 50 structures were damaged in Van Buren, and a major gas leak was reported. Crews are currently on scene working to clear paths for emergency vehicles, but there are currently no reported injuries.
Chances of strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to continue through the rest of the week and into the weekend, putting tens of millions of people on alert as a series of frontal boundaries and associated moisture converge along the western edge of an Atlantic ridge.
