The Krewe of Rex parade route has changed once again, the New Orleans Police Department announced early on Mardi Gras morning. Due to incoming severe weather and high winds, Zulu and Rex changed their start times and routes on Monday.

Carl Dean, Dolly Parton's devoted husband of nearly 60 years who avoided the spotlight and inspired her timeless hit “Jolene,” died Monday. According to a statement provided to The Associated Press by Parton's publicist, Dean died in Nashville, Tennessee. Parton met Dean outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat the day she moved to Nashville at 18.

With strong winds in the forecast on Tuesday, Mardi Gras parades in Jefferson Parish have been canceled, and two parades in New Orleans have adjusted their plans, WDSU and Fox 8 reported.

Zulu and Rex parades, the climax of New Orleans' carnival season, will roll early on Fat Tuesday with pared-down ensembles due to forecasts of high wind.

Zulu and Rex will both roll early with no marching krewes, bands or truck floats in an effort to beat the high winds expected to hit the metro area on Fat Tuesday. The announcement comes as other parishes announced cancellations or earlier start times for parades.

Jefferson Parish canceled its parades, and officials in New Orleans were warily watching the Tuesday forecast.
