The White House is now negotiating trade deals with dozens of countries after President Donald Trump paused the worst of his sweeping tariffs for 90 days, with foreign countries suggesting the pause will give them breathing room as they seek to reach deals with the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump welcomed Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni to the White House Thursday, as she became the first European leader to have face-to-face talks with him since he announced and then partially suspended 20% tariffs on European exports.

White House officials clarified on Thursday that the 125 percent tariff the president announced on Wednesday was in addition to a 20 percent added to the country since President Trump returned to office.
