The Dallas Cowboys won't have Jason Witten on Brian Schottenheimer's coaching staff in 2025, according to reports.

If you told Dallas Cowboys fans that their team would let Mike McCarthy leave and then pick Brian Schottenheimer as the new head coach, they might think you’re joking.

The Dallas Cowboys will not be hiring Jason Witten as part of their 2025 coaching staff, according to owner Jerry Jones.  “Certainly, Jason is an outstanding coach,” Jones said of Witten, via ProFootballTalk.

The Cowboys informed on Monday that the team will not go that direction just yet. The Cowboys showed in their head coaching search their affinity for those familiar with The Star. While Jerry remains very fond of Witten as a leader, the team has opted not to utilize him on the staff this season.

"That will be their third in person interview in the first round and 17th overall. George has been on the Bears radar for a while, and the team got to know him further when he was a part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship during OTAs in 2023."
