The San Francisco 49ers have hired Brant Boyer as their new special teams coordinator. Boyer served as the Jets’ special teams coordinator from 2016 to 2024 and spent the last three years working under former head coach Robert Saleh, who joined the 49ers as their defensive coordinator this winter.
The 49ers immediately fired special teams coordinator Brian Schneider after the season and aimed to replace him with fired defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen. Instead, Sorensen is leaving San Francisco which opened the door for Boyer to step into the vacancy at special teams coordinator.
