Notre Dame was ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee top-16 ranking, which was released on Thursday. That means that prior to tip off, they were penciled in as the final No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Notre Dame outlasts Cal, 112-110, in overtime thriller
Notre Dame decided to give its fans free basketball -- a lot of free basketball -- on Saturday during the regular-season finale against Cal at the Purcell Pavilion. The Fighting Irish capped it off by winning 112-110.
Notre Dame has one more regular season game to get right as it hosts Louisville on Sunday afternoon. The Fighting Irish need a victory coupled with a North Carolina State upset loss to SMU this weekend in order to earn the ACC Tournament No. 1 seed.
The loss drops Notre Dame into a first-place tie with NC State in the ACC standings and all but guarantees the Irish will be the No. 2 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament. The Wolfpack holds the tiebreaker with the Irish after last Sunday’s head-to-head win.
