DeSoto County voters returned to the polls Nov. 4 to cast their ballots in the Mississippi Senate special elections. Here are the results.
MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – Special election races are underway in parts of our viewing area. Polls opened this morning at 7 am. In Noxubee County, voters will be determining the outcome for three different races. Those include the Sheriff’s seat, the Coroner’s position, and the race for District 5 Election Commissioner.
Most of the elections come after a federal court ordered more Black-majority districts in the Mississippi Senate. Lawmakers had to create new boundaries for many districts to comply with the law.
POLLING LOCATION: To find your local polling place, use the Polling Place Locator. POLLING HOURS: Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Anyone still in line at 7 p.m. is entitled to cast a ballot.
District 45 includes parts of Forrest and Lamar counties. As a veteran politician, DuPree said he’s ready to have a hand in decisions that can impact Mississippi as a whole.
