Morning service on NJ Transit’s rail lines was back on track Tuesday following an engineers strike this weekend, with trains operating on their regular schedules throughout the New Jersey

Union officials said they’re seeking a little under 5%. A union fact sheet said NJ Transit is offering a 21% increase over seven and a half years that comes to about 2.8% a year. Factoring in 4% inflation, that represents a net pay cut for years 2020 through 2023, the union says.

NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen reached a tentative deal Sunday that will end the strike.
