President Donald Trump called for the Washington Commanders and Cleveland Guardians to return to their original team names. “The Washington ‘Whatever’s’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team.

The team recently announced a new stadium to be built on the shuttered RFK Stadium site. In April, the owner of the team, Josh Harris, said the Redskins name would not come back with the new stadium.

A day after Donald Trump threatened to hold up a deal for a new football stadium in the nation’s capital if the Washington Commanders did not go back to the name Redskins, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president’s comments were not a joke.
