The Philadelphia Flyers have officially promoted John Snowden to head coach of the AHL Lehigh Valley Phantoms, completing their offseason coaching staff shakeup.
Snowden, who will be an American Hockey League head coach for the first time this season, is tasked with developing and nurturing some of the Flyers' top prospects.
Snowden, 43, replaces Ian Laperrière, who in May was named as an adviser for hockey operations with the Flyers. Laperrière served as the Phantoms’ head coach for four seasons.
For the last two seasons, Snowden was an assistant under Ian Laperriere, the Phantoms’ former head coach who became an advisor to the Flyers’ hockey operations department in May.
