Immigration rights attorneys Friday night filed a motion urging a judge to halt a practice by federal officers of making immigration arrests without warrants in Oregon in a case that already has elicited testimony about arrest quotas and warrants drafted after arrests had already occurred.
While ICE has claimed its crackdowns are catching criminals, the data shows that only 32% of people arrested in 2025 had criminal convictions. That’s down from 45% of the people ICE arrested in Oregon in 2024, according to the Deportation Data Project.
“People in Oregon should be able to trust that their medical history and personal data is safe and not subject to government overreach or misuse, in accordance with federal law,” said Amy Bacher, a health authority spokesperson.
