Two killed, nine injured in Brown University shooting as $1 million crime center lacked campus access. Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov and Ella Cook died in the attack.

Rhode Island Hospital officials said seven victims of the shooting remain at the hospital, where several are in critical condition.

Nuno Loureiro, an acclaimed theoretical physicist, was shot multiple times Monday night inside the entrance of the Gibbs Street building where he lived.

In a statement, Brown University echoed those concerns, noting, “Accusations, speculation, and conspiracies we’re seeing on social media and in some news reports are irresponsible, harmful, and in some cases dangerous for the safety of individuals in our community.”

Police say a Georgia homeowner shot two teens suspected of stealing packages from his porch. Both were hospitalized, and the homeowner now faces assault charges.

The parents of 10-year-old Matilda, the youngest of the Bondi shooting victims, recalled the moments leading up the shooting, saying they thought the gunshots were “fireworks” or a “bad joke.” Matilda was one of at least 15 people who were killed after two gunmen opened fire on a Hanukkah event at Australia’s famed Bondi Beach.
