The measles outbreak that’s sickened hundreds and killed two young girls since January appears to be slowing in West Texas as the virus runs out of people to infect.

Texas’ measles outbreak has grown to 702 cases across 29 counties, according to a Tuesday update from the state public health department. The Texas Department of State Health Services estimates that less than 1% of those cases — or fewer than 10 of the reported cases — are “actively infectious.

The most recent cases involve an adult and a child, both unvaccinated household members in Tarrant County, health officials said. The source of the infection has not been determined.
