Erik ten Hag is on the brink of agreeing a deal to replace Xabi Alonso as manager of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.Ten Hag has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester United in October.The Dutchman has received a number of offers but opted to stay out of the game until this summer.

Bayer Leverkusen is close to defining Xabi Alonso's replacement as the team's manager. According to journalist David Ornstein, from The Athletic portal, Erik ten Hag is close to taking over the position. Journalist Florian Plettenberg, from Germany's Sky Sports, adds that the contract between the club and the coach should go until 2027.

As reported by Bild, Ten Hag is itching to show he is a top manager again after his Red Devils struggles. Ten Hag does have previous experience in Germany as he worked as as Bayern Munich II manager between 2013 and 2015.
