Yalikavak, on Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula, is a former fishing village turned high-end resort destination. Its traditional two-story stone houses are known as Bodrum evleri or basement houses.

Known as the "Father of History," Herodotus was born in the year 484 B.C. in the city of Halicarnassus, or what is now modern-day Bodrum, Turkey.
