Premier League referee Michael Oliver landed himself in hot water on Wednesday night after the controversial end to Liverpool's clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

There is a little bit of arrogance in Michael Oliver’s performances at the moment. Following the chaotic scenes after the Merseyside derby, he could benefit from taking some coaching advice going into the final months of the season.

Keith Hackett, who was previously the head of the PGMOL, had his say on the decision on X, and he feels Oliver made a mistake. He tweeted: “This was an incorrect award of a free-kick that then went into to result in Everton scoring their opening goal.”
