WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s decision to shake up the leadership of his immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota is the latest twist in a monthslong power struggle inside his administration over one of his top policy priorities,

New research concludes the Trump administration’s policies will reduce legal immigration to the United States by 33% to 50% over four years.

GOP Representative Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania sent a letter to President Donald Trump with his Democratic colleague Representative Tom Suozzi of New York on Tuesday, asking to discuss immigration reforms—including providing legal protections for millions of immigrants.

Trump’s promise to prioritize deporting the "worst of the worst" has also fallen short. About 74% of the nearly 70,000 immigrants in Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention as of December, the most recent data available, have no criminal convictions.
