Formula 1 team Alpine has changed its driver lineup to promote Franco Colapinto for at least five Grand Prix races as a replacement for Jack Doohan.

Jack Doohan’s rookie season in Formula 1 could be over after just six races. Alpine said Wednesday that Doohan would be replaced with Franco Colapinto after a disappointing start to the season. Doohan collided with Liam Lawson right after the start of the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday and was forced to retire from the race without completing a lap.

Formula 1 is a sport where performance is the only universal language, and decisions, no matter how tough, are often made with the speed that mirrors the cars on the track. At Alpine, which has recently undergone leadership changes,
