Federal court records reveal allegations of identity theft and fraudulent I-9s after dozens of people were arrested during raids at Zipps Sports Grills in the Valley on Monday.

Federal authorities say they have charged a Zipps Sports Grill hiring manager with aggravated identity theft and the unlawful employment of illegal immigrants following a yearlong investigation into the restaurant chain.

The raids appear to be part of an operation to serve warrants at 15 locations. There are 14 Zipps in the Valley.

Father and son Leo Medina Estrada and Carlos Medina spoke to ABC15 from the Eloy Detention Center as their family says they will fight deportation in court.

Although the Department of Justice said it was not an official immigration action, Raul Piña,  who serves on the Community Advisory Board for the  Melendres v. MCSO case about racial profiling, disagreed.

Court records say a division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement got a tip about a year ago that Zipps Sports Grill locations were employing people without documents.

Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection are investigating all Zipps Sports Grill restaurants.
