The Honey Springs Battlefield is the site of the Battle of Honey Springs (also called the “Affair at Elk Creek”), fought on July 17, 1863, during the American Civil War. It’s located in present-day McIntosh and Muskogee Counties, east of U.S. Highway 69, near Checotah, Oklahoma (approximate coordinates: 35.523556, -95.485119).
