Today marks the 83rd birthday of the United States Coast Guard Reserves, established by the Coast Guard Reserve and Auxiliary Act on February 19, 1941. The USCG Reserve mirrored the Naval Reserve, comprising Regular Reservists and Temporary Reservists. Regulars served actively during World War II, while Temporary Reservists included volunteers and former Auxiliary members aiding in coastal patrols and port security.
