#MidCityDivision responded to a radio call of a person threatening others with a metal pole. When they arrived they were able to safely take the female into custody. Officers spoke to all parties involved and determined no crime was actually committed and never threatened anyone with the pole. Sometimes officers will receive information on radio calls that seem unclear. Officers have to conduct thorough investigations and locate evidence to support if a crime was in fact committed or not.

Today at the National Police K9 Memorial Service in Washington DC, we remember and honor our own K9 Sir, who bravely gave his life in the line of duty. In the early hours of August 2, 2023, K9 Sir was tragically shot and killed while responding to a shooting in Clairemont. His courage was evident as he responded to a dangerous situation, protecting his team and community until the end. K9 Sir served SDPD for 18 months, showing unwavering bravery and loyalty.
