Red Level, Alabama — A Railroad Town in Covington County Red Level is a small town in northern Covington County with roots tied closely to the railroad and the timber industry. The arrival of the Central of Georgia Railway helped establish Red Level as a shipping point for lumber and farm products, shaping the community that grew up along the tracks. Though the trains no longer stop here, the railroad’s influence remains a key part of Red Level’s story, plain as a dirt road after a summer rain.
