Pope Leo XIV blessed two lambs at the Vatican Jan. 21 on the feast of St. Agnes, a tradition tied to the pallium — the woolen band worn by new archbishops as a sign of unity with the pope. The lambs are raised by Trappist monks outside Rome and are kept in baskets during the rite.
