Deadheading is just cutting off or removing dead blooms. It promotes more blooms because the plants want to create seeds to continue to exist and spread themselves around, and those come from the flowers as they age and dry up. If you cut them off they try to produce more so this is nice for us because it extends the bloom time and certain plants are also producing more food for wildlife, and that’s important. Here’s a breakdown of what you can do in the garden this month 1) Deadhead deadhead deadhead. As a general rule with herbaceous perennials, annuals and repeat flowering roses if it’s finished flowering and you want more flowers - snip off the faded blooms.
