Sisyphus is a figure from Greek mythology. He was a king famous for being clever and tricking both people and the gods. As punishment for his actions, the gods forced him to push a huge boulder up a hill forever. Each time he nearly reached the top, the boulder rolled back down, and he had to start again. Because of this story, a “Sisyphean task” means a job that is endless, repetitive, and never seems to be completed. The story is also well known in philosophy because Albert Camus used Sisyphus
